SwagBucks Cryptogram Code Details

As part of SwagBucks birthday bash, they have prepared a little something special for us -- "a huge fat CODE" (as they said it in the blog). Although the final instructions for this HUGE chunk of Swag Code has not been posted yet, they will be giving it away through a mind boggling method - a cryptogram.

So what is a cryptogram?

Google defines it as:
  • a type of puzzle which consists of a short piece of encrypted text
  • a substitution ciphers where each letter is replaced by a different letter or number

As for SwagBucks definition, a cryptogram is a phrase or quote that has been encrypted by simple letter substitution. The phrase “This is a cryptogram” might turn into the encrypted phrase:

THIS IS A CRYPTOGRAM

FKDR DR U BAZOFMIAUC

In this cryptogram you can see that throughout the phrase the letter “T” has been replaced by the letter “F, the letter “A” has been substituted with “U”, and so on. So for today, they will be giving hints and tips on how to solve this cryptogram for us to get a HUUUGEEE fat code.

Over the past 11 days, we have collected and arranged the cryptogram to make it easier for us to crack the code should the final instructions be given. The cryptogram codes below are as follow:

1st - G
2nd - F
3rd - R
4th - F
5th - C
6th - L
7th - N
8th - Q
9th - A
10th - P
11th - Z

When the final hints and the fourth code will be given, we would have to decipher these letters: " G F R F C L N Q A P Z ". For now, the SwagBucks Tricks team will be waiting for the final clues and once we have them, we will post specific hints in our Hints Page to aid you in finding this rare code.

To help decrypt the code, this tool may (or may not) come in handy. Check out this Cryptogram Decoder by visiting http://www.ics.uci.edu/~eppstein/cryptogram/. Just enter GFRFCLNQAPZ without the spaces, and click the "Solve" button.

Good luck everyone! Happy code hunting and a happy 3rd birthday to you SwagBucks! Rock on!

according to my notes, there are actually 11 letters, and the 4th one hasn't been released yet. they said Z was the "last letter in the puzzle" - curious as to how you have it in the 4th spot?

Thanks again for the heads up.

I haven't used it before, so I can't speak to the efficacy, but this site could be useful once the whole code is known

Awesome resource! Thanks for sharing.

Hopefully http://www.ics.uci.edu/~eppstein/cryptogram/ can help us crack the code once it will all be given.

I thought the 9th letter was an 'A' not a 'G', will have to go back to the blog to see.

Once you've deciphered the cryptogram, SEARCH for it in the SwagStore. You should then see 5 results from which one of them contains the code within the description.
