(Now this can be a tough one. But with practice, you'll be able to get the hang of it)
Ever had that call from a marketing agent that mentions products or upgrades where you wonder if you have the time to listen to them? Don't you just hate the way they ask you to do something for their benefit? When inviting a friend to use websites such as SwagBucks, it isn't that different at all.
Here are some DO's and Dont's that you can practice to increase your chances of getting a referral:
1. Do wait until the person is in a good mood. Don't ask them for something after a stressful event has happened to them. For instance, don't ask them when they just got home from school/work looking like Shrek. Chances are, they'll just blow you off.2. Do make it seem like you are doing them a favor. Don't ever act needy or force someone to sign up for you. Just engage them in a casual conversation and tell them how SwagBucks can help them. Mention some of the items or gadgets they have been longing for. Perhaps you can say: "This is your chance to get that iPod Touch that you have been saving for!"
3. Don't ever sound desperate, as if you REALLY want something. Because then you will sound pushy. You do not want to give them the idea that there's more in it for you than there is for them (even though that's the whole point of inviting them. lol). You will definitely sound like that agent who is too persistent to make a sale. Act like it's no big deal. If they say no, you can try telling them again a few days later. Maybe you just caught them in a bad timing.
4. If they still say no, then you may want to think about the reason as to why they would not try it out. Are they afraid that SwagBucks is a scam? Do they think it's a waste of time? What other concerns are they worried of? By genuinely listening to them, you can think of methods on how to counteract their worries.
5. If you have been in this business in a long time, show them photos, videos or any proofs of the Shirts, IPhones, or PSPs that you got from SwagBucks. (Try not to be sneaky and 'pretend' that you got your other gadgets from SwagBucks) ;)
and..
6. The most important tip that I can give you, is to NEVER be discouraged! A good businessman would consider himself successful when he is able to sell atleast 1 of his product out every 10 people encountered. Make it a goal to invite a hundred or more people. The more people you invite, the more chances you can have to get atleast 10 ACTIVE referrals or so.
